Roscommon Sports Partnership
It is with great sadness that we note the passing of our esteemed colleague and friend Máire Allen.Máire was involved with Roscommon Sports Partnership from the initial application stages and served on the Board since 2000. Máire was one of our biggest advocates and has given 23 years of valuable knowledge and support to the Board and Staff. Máire was a fervent advocate of participation in sport and physical activity and her expertise always guided us in the right direction. Through her work as a PE teacher through which she introduced hundreds of young girls to sport and physical activity and her involvement in numerous sports organisations she instilled a love of sport in all the people she met. She was a visionary in the provision of sports and activity to people with a disability and she worked tirelessly to ensure that all their needs were met. On a personal level Máire was always in good humour and was always willing to help, she always made herself available to assist in any way she could. The list of organisations that she was involved with is staggering and too numerous to mention. She encouraged people to become involved in sport and to those she coached her expertise and support was never wanting. She had an innate sense of fair play and did all in her power to ensure that everyone got a chance to participate. In summary, the extent of her contribution will never be fully documented but needless to say, no one has ever contributed to the development of sport and physical activity as much as Máire. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew her, and we extend our deepest sympathies to her family.Ar dheis Dé go Raibh a hAnam ... See MoreSee Less
